Newcastle 12th February, 2013.

Some of Australia’s best Kitesurfers will be staging an exhibition during this year’s Surfest thanks to the team at Slingshot & Board Crazy.   They will be joined by high profile Internationals in a showcase of this exciting new genre of wave riding.

Kitesurfing is fast establishing itself as one of the most dynamic forms of board riding on the planet by combining the grace of surfing with the power of the wind. It caters to a diversity of styles including the progressive aerial aspect of the sport whilst offering the purists a chance to illustrate a more power-based style of on-rail surfing.

Championship Tour manager Terry Mckenna is excited to have the opportunity to exhibit the sport to a captive audience on the final series weekend at Surfest.

“I think that a lot of people will be surprised about what can be done on a wave with a kite in hand.  Many good surfers are starting to realize the benefits of being able to get tubed on a normal surfboard in the morning and then break out the kite and take to the skies in the afternoon once the wind whips up.” he added.

Australia’s Keahi De Aboitiz is the current world champion and is inspiring a new generation of participants to take up the sport.

Spectators will be able to watch the following athletes in action at 3pm on Saturday 23rd February, 2013.
